Rehabilitation of Manhattan Veteran Affairs Medical Center

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. provided hazardous material investigation and design services to the VA. EPM’s responsibilities include a full asbestos and PCB survey of areas in the structure that would be impacted by the ongoing renovation.

Following completion of the asbestos survey, EPM produced design documents at the 60%, 90%, and 100% levels of completion. Design documents addressed the removal of asbestos containing materials, such as pipe insulation, radiator insulation, floor mastics and tiles, and gaskets.

EPM provided responses to Contractor Requests of Information (RFI’s) as needed for construction support.

Boiler Replacement Project at James J. Peters VA Medical Center

EPM performed a hazardous material investigation in support of the proposed boiler replacement project, located at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center.

EPM personnel surveyed to identify asbestos-containing materials, surfaces coated with lead based paint or lead-containing paint, PCB-containing exterior caulks, and universal wastes and miscellaneous hazardous materials; which require specialized handling and disposal.

Following the results of the Hazardous Materials Investigation, EPM personnel prepared design documents for asbestos and lead based paint abatement.
