Bedford Hills Correctional Facility Cabling System (bedford, ny)

EPM performed inspections for the presence of asbestos containing materials (ACM), lead containing materials (LCM), polychlorinated biphenyl containing materials (PCB materials), and mold contaminated materials in connection with the Provide Cabling System (PCS) Project at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.  The purpose of the project was to replace the facility-wide over the air television system in 17 of the 21 buildings.

EPM prepared a Hazardous Material Survey Report summarizing all sampling methods and confirmed locations and quantities of hazardous materials.  This included remediation recommendations as well as specialized handling and disposal procedures.

Term Elevator Design Services at Various NYS Buildings Statewide (Albany, beacon, binghamton, brooklyn, jamaica, manhattan, wallkill, wards island, NY)

EPM has participated on two consecutive term agreements for elevator design services.  Each of the task orders listed below involved rehabilitation of a small number of elevators or replacement of key components in NYS-owned buildings.

EPM’s scope of work included:

  • Field inspection and sampling of suspected hazardous materials (i.e., asbestos containing material, lead paint and PCB containing caulks)

  • Preparing investigation reports which provided locations and quantities of all confirmed and assumed hazmat

  • Assembling the appropriate design specifications for abatement, as well as drawings annotated with precise locations and special notes

  • Preparing abatement cost estimates

  • Providing construction phase services (e.g., responding to requests for information, reviewing contractor submittals, attending meetings)

  • Providing construction support during asbestos abatement

Building #5 Roof Rehabilitation at Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. provided sampling and analysis in connection with the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center’s roof rehabilitation work at Building 5. The leaking roofs required a hazardous materials consultant to sample the affected roof and ceiling for lead, asbestos, and PCB caulks, and note any incidental universal waste prior to rehabilitation.

EPM performed a complete asbestos, PCB, and lead survey of the roofs. To ascertain probable locations for suspect hazardous materials, EPM reviewed as-built drawings and conducted an existing conditions assessment. Materials sampled for laboratory testing included built-up roofing, roof drain insulation, ceiling tiles, coping stone caulks, waterproofing membrane, flashings, and any coatings on utilities to be relocated. All findings and laboratory results were presented in a Hazardous Materials Findings Report.
