Bronx Community College Bliss Hall ADA Accessibility Project (Bronx, NY)

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. (EPM) performed a survey for the presence of asbestos containing materials (ACM), PCB containing materials, universal and miscellaneous hazardous materials at Bronx Community College’s Bliss Hall as part of the ADA Accessibility Improvements Project. 

EPM conducted a visual inspection of the work area to identify materials that might be affected by the planned Chiller Replacement Project.  EPM personnel collected bulk samples of suspect ACM and PCB containing materials for certified laboratory analysis. 

EPM prepared a report summarizing data collection techniques, analysis procedures, and locations and quantities of confirmed asbestos and PCB containing materials. EPM recommended requirements for handling, disposal and/or recycling for confirmed hazardous materials, plus universal waste and miscellaneous hazardous materials inventoried on-site. 

The next phase of the project will require the preparation of abatement contract documents.

Baruch IT Building Cooling Towers 4 & 5 Replacement (New York, NY)

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. (EPM) performed a survey for asbestos containing materials (ACM) and exterior PCB caulking materials, in association with the IT Building Cooling Towers Replacement Project at Baruch College.

The project scope included the removal of cooling towers 4 and 5 on the roof, along with associated pipes, valves and equipment, as well as the respective water pumps for each tower in the Cellar Mechanical Equipment Room (MER), with the associated piping, valves and electrical panels. 

EPM collected bulk samples from suspect asbestos containing materials, including pipe valve gasket materials, pipe flange gasket material, cooling tower seam gaskets, and gray air duct caulking. EPM personnel also conducted an on-site assessment of suspect exterior PCB containing materials with the potential to be impacted by the proposed scope of work.

EPM composed a  survey report summarizing all results, and confirmed locations of ACM and PCB containing materials.
